In the Streets

Native Hawaiians and others have turned out in increasing numbers to protest the mounting threats to sovereignty and self-determination. On September 7, 2003, approximately 10,000 people marched down Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki to rally support for "Ku I Ka Pono - Justice for Hawaiians." The march was the latest in a series of local and national demonstrations that highlight the legal, political, historical, and cultural events now converging around the Hawaiian struggle for self-determination.
