In the Streets
Native Hawaiians and others have turned out in increasing numbers
to protest the mounting threats to sovereignty and self-determination.
On September 7, 2003, approximately 10,000 people marched down Kalakaua
Avenue in Waikiki to rally support for "Ku I Ka Pono - Justice for
Hawaiians." The march was the latest in a series of local and national
demonstrations that highlight the legal, political, historical, and
cultural events now converging around the Hawaiian struggle for self-determination.
